Sharon Swords

Introduction To The Music, Piano & Music Theory

My interest in music begin when I started to learn the violin at the age of ten. I wasn’t musical before this and found that learning to play an instrument was hindered by the fact that at that I had no sense of beat, no understanding of rhythm and definitely no pitch. I’m sure looking back I was a very difficult challenge for my teacher.

Between 2007 and 2010 I was a member of the Mullingar Choral Society and sang in the National concert Hall in Dublin. My study of music is still growing today.

I received a Diploma in group and community music teaching with the RIAM in 2014 and have attended numerous short courses studying the Kodaly approach, some with teachers from The Kodaly Institute of Hungary.

For the past ten years to present I have taught piano privately, where I also specialise in teaching piano to children diagnosed with Autism.
